You may not have checked it out, but I'm sure you've heard about it. This week, Games Workshop released the Daemonhunters and Witchhunters codecis as .pdf downloads on their website. They hailed it as "great news for all 40k fans," but I can't rightly see how.
Now, I'm sure you've heard that the DH and WH codices are lacking some pretty important rules; namely the rules for Allying and Inducting Units. You may not know this, but inducted IG is basically the only way that Daemonhunters can get enough anti-tank to keep a semblance of competitiveness. Yet, that's not even what upsets me. The worst part is the way GW is handling the ordeal.
Games Workshop has failed to mention anything about the pdfs, save for the fact that they exist. They have issued no statement regarding some player's claims that printed version out rules the pdf, or vice-versa, claiming instead that Allies and Inducted units will be up to the discretion of your opponent or tournament organizer. Now, they have stated Allies will be allowed in the 'Ard Boyz finals, but nothing has been stated about tournaments beyond that. They instead stated that "it may be a [moot] point." Note that this is only part of the story, because other people have been told straight out that the pdf is the latest version, so it seems that Games Workshop hasn't even made it clear to their employees. It's unacceptable, if you ask me.
Hopefully they'll take some official stance soon, instead of leaving us in the dark.
